About Cancer Screening

At Regis Medical, we believe that proactive healthcare is the key to a longer, healthier life. As medical science continue to innovate, we are constantly reminded of the importance of early detection in combating serious illnesses.

Our cancer screening is conducted through a single blood test that detects abnormal DNA fragments associated with cancer. These fragments, known as circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), are released from cancer cells into the bloodstream, enabling the screening process.

Cancer is a formidable disease, but with the right screening measures, we can detect it early, when it is most treatable. Our clinic is dedicated to providing you with the highest standard of cancer screening services, utilising technology and a compassionate approach.

LucenceINSIGHT™ Cancer Screening

LucenceINSIGHT™ is a multi-cancer early detection (MCED) test that screens for the signal of 50 cancers through a simple blood draw. It leverages proprietary technology to amplify and identify signs of ctDNA and viruses in the bloodstream. The advanced sequencing analysis predicts signal localisation.

Why Cancer Screening is Important

Cancer screening is an essential part of preventive healthcare. It involves looking for cancer before a person has any symptoms. When abnormal tissue or cancer is found early, it may be easier to treat or cure. Regular screenings can lead to early detection of cancers, significantly increasing the chances of successful treatment and survival.

Here are some reasons why cancer screening should be a vital part of your health routine:

Early Detection Saves Lives: Detecting cancer at an early stage can make a significant difference. For many types of cancer, early detection through screening is associated with a higher rate of successful treatment and survival. For instance, the five-year survival rate for early-detected breast cancer is 99%. And the five-year survival rate for colorectal cancer is about 90% when detected early, compared to only 14% for advanced stages.

Improved Treatment Options: When cancer is found early, treatment options are often less aggressive and more effective. This can lead to a better quality of life during and after treatment.

Cost-Effective: Early-stage cancer treatments are generally less expensive than treatments for advanced-stage cancer. Regular screenings can save you from the financial burden of extensive treatments.

Prevention: In some cases, screenings can detect precancerous conditions that can be treated before they turn into cancer, effectively preventing cancer from developing.

How to Prepare for Your Cancer Screening

Cancer screening at Regis Medical is conducted with a blood test. We will draw a small sample of blood from you.

You may continue to consume food and water. No fasting required prior to your cancer screening.

You may also continue to take your medications.

Things to Take Note for Your Cancer Screening

Cancer screening screens for cancer signals, it does not diagnose cancer directly. Further diagnostics are recommended if the signals are abnormal.

Cancer screening does not screen for inherited risk of cancers from family members.

Although cancer screening detects early signals, as with every laboratory test, there will be a small error rate. Our Doctors will counsel you in detail on this error rate and clinical implications.

About Lucence Cancer Test

What is the Lucence Cancer Blood Test?

The Lucence Cancer Blood Test, also known as a liquid biopsy, is a non-invasive diagnostic test that detects circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) in the bloodstream to identify genetic mutations associated with cancer.

How does the Lucence Cancer Blood Test work?

The test analyses a small sample of blood to detect genetic alterations specific to cancer cells. These mutations shed DNA into the bloodstream, allowing for early detection and monitoring of cancer.

What types of cancer can the Lucence Cancer Blood Test detect?

It can detect various types of cancer, including but not limited to breast cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, and others where specific genetic mutations are known, up to 50 cancers.

Who should consider getting the Lucence Cancer Blood Test?

You should consider Lucence Cancer Blood Test if you are above the age of 40, not pregnant, or especially if you have high risk factors such as family history and smoking.

Is the Lucence Cancer Blood Test accurate?
Yes, the test has shown high accuracy in detecting genetic mutations associated with cancer. It is often used alongside other diagnostic methods to provide a comprehensive assessment. It has a sensitivity of 80.9%, meaning it correctly identifies cancer in about 81 out of 100 people who have it, and a specificity of 99%, meaning it correctly identifies that 99 out of 100 people who do not have cancer are indeed cancer-free.
Is the Lucence Cancer Blood Test covered by insurance?
No, it’s not covered by insurance.
Where can I get the Lucence Cancer Blood Test?
The test is available at all Regis Medical clinics. You can locate us here.
Is there any special preparation required before taking the Lucence Cancer Blood Test?
Generally, no special preparation is needed. You may continue to eat and drink, or take oral medications before the test. Please avoid vigorous exercises before the test.
What happens if the Lucence Cancer Blood Test detects cancer?
A positive test result indicates the presence of genetic mutations associated with cancer. You will be referred to a specialist for further tests.
Can the Lucence Cancer Blood Test be used for cancer screening in healthy individuals?
Yes, even if you are healthy, you can still screen for cancer signals, especially if you are above the age of 40 or have high risk factors of cancer, such as smoking or family history.
Is the Lucence Cancer Blood Test suitable for monitoring cancer recurrence?
No, the Lucence Cancer Blood Test is not meant to specifically test for recurrence of cancer. It is more of a screening for early signals of cancer.
Are there any limitations or risks associated with the Lucence Cancer Blood Test?
While generally safe, no diagnostic test is perfect. False-positive or false-negative results can occur.
Is the Lucence Cancer Blood Test suitable for detecting all stages of cancer?
Yes, the test can be used for early detection as well as monitoring advanced stages of cancer to guide treatment decisions.
Can the Lucence Cancer Blood Test detect cancer in its early stages?
Yes, the test is designed to detect genetic mutations associated with cancer early, which can aid in early diagnosis and treatment.
Does the Lucence Cancer Blood Test have any age restrictions?
The test can be performed on any adult above the age of 21. Pediatric applications may vary because informed consent and understanding are needed.
Is the Lucence Cancer Blood Test approved in Singapore?
Yes, the Lucence Cancer Blood Test is approved and licensed by MOH Singapore.
Does the Lucence Cancer Blood Test require repeat testing over time?
Repeat testing may be necessary to monitor changes in genetic mutations over the course of treatment or disease progression.
Is the Lucence Cancer Blood Test suitable for all types of cancer?
While it is applicable to many types of cancer, its effectiveness may vary depending on the specific genetic mutations associated with each cancer type.
What are the cancers Lucence cannot detect?
The Lucence Cancer Blood Test is not able to detect cancers such as Brain, Anal, Vaginal, and Urethral cancers. Please contact us if you are concerned about any specific types of cancer.
What should I expect during the Lucence Cancer Blood Test procedure?
The procedure involves drawing a blood sample, similar to a routine blood test. It is typically quick and involves minimal discomfort.
Are there research studies supporting the effectiveness of the Lucence Cancer Blood Test?
